Newsweek Magazine recently ranked Wyndham Worldwide Corporation at number 81 of America’s 500 largest publicly traded companies in its new “Green Rankings” report.
The list is based on criteria including greenhouse gas emissions, toxic waste emissions, use of natural resources, management of environmental issues and policies, regulatory compliance and policies concerning climate change.
The company is one of the world’s largest hospitality companies with more than 70,000 locations in 100 countries and 25,500 employees. Wyndham Worldwide chairman and C.E.O. Stephen P. Holmes said the company “can make a tremendous impact in our communities around the globe.”
Newsweek reported much of the hotel industry is “behind the curve” on environmental protection, but cited Wyndham progress in the areas of water conservation and recycling along with some commitments to green building.
