Check out the Peabody Ducks when at Memphis Hotels

Check out the Peabody Ducks when at Memphis HotelsBe sure to check out the Peabody Hotel’s ducks next time you’re in Memphis. They live on the hotel rooftop, and twice a day the “Duckmaster” parades them along a red carpet to the lobby fountain, where they splash around, bathe, and generally enjoy a grand time.

It’s a tradition which dates back to 1933, when the hotel’s general manager and a friend returned from a hunting trip in Arkansas (it was allegedly also a drinking trip) and decided to put three live decoy ducks in the lobby fountain. Later those ducks were replaced with five North American Mallards, which were then trained by a circus master to parade.

Be at the Union Avenue hotel at 11 a.m. or 5 p.m. on any given day to see the show.
