Motel 6 Collecting Teddy Bears to Benefit Distressed Children

Motel 6 Collecting Teddy Bears to Benefit Distressed ChildrenMotel 6 is continuing its efforts to support community safety and the work of law enforcement officials, fire fighters and social services by launching the second annual “Great Teddy Bear Roundup.” Between November 9 and December 11, members of the community can drop new teddy bears in collection boxes at participating Motel 6 and Studio 6 locations across the country.

The goal of the “Great Teddy Bear Roundup” is to collect new, small to medium-sized teddy bears that will be donated to each Motel 6/Studio 6’s local law enforcement agencies, fire departments or hospitals in need of a means to comfort children experiencing stressful or traumatic situations. Each year, police and fire departments across the country collect teddy bears to donate to hospitals, child protective agencies or to hand out to children they encounter everyday.

“The astounding success of last year’s inaugural Great Teddy Bear Roundup has challenged us to do more and collect even more teddy bears for the community,” said Olivier Poirot, CEO of Accor North America, Motel 6 and Studio 6. “We respect and appreciate the work of our local police, fire departments and social services, and we look forward to having a mountain of teddy bears to help support them in their efforts to comfort children in need.”

Last year’s Great Teddy Bear Roundup garnered more than 10,000 teddy bears, benefitting local communities nationwide. This year, as an added benefit for a local community, Motel 6/Studio 6 will donate $6,000 to the local fire or police department of the location in North America that collects the greatest number of bears. Those interested in contributing teddy bears can find their nearest Motel 6/Studio 6 location on motel6.com and should verify participation by calling the location.
