Hotel-Booking.com

Hotel-booking.com – is a hotel-booking site out of Italy that defies every law of visual organization. Now, maybe it’s just me. Maybe there’s some deep-rooted cultural rift between the way Italians and Americans interact with visual information. Maybe…

The homepage is more or less one large table divided into search categories of: destination, hotel name, days, stars, rooms and currency. These are actually very practical and applicable categories and the set-up is admittedly functional—no scrolling is required to see everything the website has to offer. Unfortunately, each subheading is delineated by a thick red line, turning the page into a starless American flag with a fitting column of travel ads to the right.

Perhaps the interface is less important to you, however. Then let me turn your attention to the site’s creative use of the English language. The banner at the top of the page reads: “Search, find and buy the best hotel for you in the world at the best rate. HOTELBOOKING: more than 70.000 hotels in the world! LET’S COMPARE AND BOOK NOW!!!” While I appreciate the exceptional enthusiasm, the questionable grammar leaves me skeptical about booking my hotels with hotel-booking.com.

Priceline

Priceline.com – is one of the most popular hotel-booking sites on the web. Promoted by the untouchable Captain Kirk, it’s no wonder this website has become a favorite among hotel bookers around the world. Indeed, Priceline offers extensive coverage, linking you to cruises, hotels, flights, cars and package vacation deals. And yet, our thorough research team was able to find two particular shortcomings on this popular site. First, Priceline is focused exclusively on discounts.

While we at hotels-in.com care about your economic needs, we also recognize that travelers have more than just budgetary concerns.

Second, the homepage’s interface is cluttered with unhelpful company ads that detract from the truly relevant information. Once you enter into the actual search, these sidebars go away, but the overwhelming number of icons on the homepage is both unattractive and confusing. At hotels-in.com, we strive to give you a sleek, straightforward booking platform. A homepage need not look like an urban fairground.
